2024 Art Show Recap
2024 was a busy year of art shows, open studios with ART at the Murray, and diving into creating prints of my artwork.
I started 2024 with my solo show, “The New Abnormal,” at Anna Bier Art Gallery in Greenville, Ohio. Then, I quickly moved on to create my first fine art prints and cards for Artistry at the Harvest Barn. This is a juried fine art show and sale in Maria Stein, Ohio. I was also selected to paint en plein air for the Indianapolis Zoo’s Naturally Inspired Paint Out. The painting was then later auctioned off to raise money for the Zoo’s conservation efforts.
In the summer, I had the honor of having “The Last Little House on the Prairie” selected for the Indianapolis Art Center’s Art From the Heartland. They received over 1500 submissions and only about 100 were selected. I had previously worked at the Indy Art Center as a photographer for a wedding and engagement session years ago. Back then I was a little sad I was there in that capacity instead of as a displaying artist. Achieving this goal of having art here and to have my piece so prominently displayed had me floored.
In the fall, I had two pieces, “The Last Little House on the Prairie” and “Abandoned,” juried into Open Space: Art About the Land. These are tandem exhibitions presented by Minnetrista and the Anderson Museum of Art. Proceeds support Red-tail Land Conservancy’s mission to protect wild lands in East Central Indiana.

My studio at ART at the Murray
Throughout 2024, my studio has gained traction. In 2023, I moved into my first (and second!) studio in the Murray building. After building on ideas from a public forum on building Muncie’s art community, we officially branded it as ART at the Murray. Our growing cohort of artists is becoming an anchor for First Thursdays and ArtsWalk. We have a variety of talent showing and selling from studios and now a rotating show in the second floor foyer.
Of course I also created new work. This included more encaustics, experimenting with “special trash,” and of course utilizing acrylics and drawing materials. I continually debut new work at my studio and occasionally give sneak peaks of what’s in progress.
