About
Artist Inspired by Nature and Sustainability
I’m an artist based in Indiana, splitting my time between a studio in downtown Muncie and my growing rural homestead in Parker City. While my studio is a great space for exhibition, conversation, and community, most of my work takes shape at home where I’m surrounded by views of nature.
I was raised in a log home surrounded by woods and fields. This developed an early appreciation for the beauty of untouched nature. My husband and I have been pursuing a homesteading lifestyle since we got married, teaching ourselves skills we didn’t grow up learning while striving to live more sustainably. This has included years of renovating a neglected property where we now grow a large garden and orchard, raise chickens, and keep bees. Before we started, our land was mostly mowed and grazed. We’ve allowed much of it to rewild since, bringing more diversity and wildlife each year. This journey has deeply influenced my artistic practice, informing the themes I explore and at times the materials I use.
My work highlights the beauty of nature while reflecting on modern issues like overdevelopment, consumption, and stewardship. Through imagery rooted in landscapes and ecological relationships, my goal is to encourage viewers to consider their roles in a bigger picture of consumerism, climate change, wildlife decline, and sustainability. Educating and inspiring permaculture practices wherever possible have become particularly important to me since earning my PDC through Oregon State University in 2025.
Each piece of art is built slowly through layers of media. At times, the materials used carry meaning in themselves, and the art is treated both as an image and object. My process often begins with drawing and then develops through layers of acrylic paint and colored pencil on wood panels. However, I often incorporate other media such as ink, encaustics, gesso, and collaged materials to build richness and depth.
Since earning my BFA in Drawing from Ball State University in 2014, my artistic practice has continually evolved. In addition to fine art, I’ve worked professionally in photography since 2017, with my work appearing in various publications as a photographer, coordinator, and planner. My art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including my solo exhibition, The New Abnormal at Anna Bier Art Gallery, as well as exhibitions with the Indianapolis Art Center, Richmond Art Museum, IU Ball Memorial Hospital, and the Indianapolis Zoo, with work shown at the Eiteljorg Museum.
You can find and purchase my work at open studios or by appointment at ART at the Murray where I’m a founding member of this budding collective. I also have work available in store at Hoosier Made.
